World Youth Day 2011

World Youth Day is scheduled for August 11 -21, 2011 in Madrid Spain (the dates include a pre-WYD pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal and Avila, Spain). Anyone who is 16 by July 31, 2011 may participate. Cost will be approx. $3800 – $4000. Deposits of $300 per person are due in January. Each pilgrim will have his/her own account and will be invoiced monthly by travel agent Great Experiences, contracted by the Diocese to handle all the logistics. Catholic School Week & List

The Church in the USA will commemorate its annual celebration of Catholic Schools Week the week of January 31^st.

We remember the dedication of the countless numbers of men and women Religious and lay persons who have given of themselves to offer a holistic education to our young people and who continue to do so in Catholic schools throughout our country. Catholic schools assist parents in helping their children to be formed in body, mind and soul.

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Religious Education Registration

We are very pleased to provide you with our fifth year of online registration for religious education. Last year’s new policy of closing registration on June 30 greatly assisted in our preparations for the fall so we will again offer registration from May 15 through June 30 only. Please go to St. Matthew’s homepage and click on on the top right side to register your children for our religious education program for the 2009-2010 year.
